Paws & Cons of PetTech

If you're anything like me, you've probably found yourself wondering how to make your pet's life (and yours) a bit easier with the help of technology. But let's be real, not all pet tech is created equal. Here’s some gadgets that have caught my eye, and a few that made me raise an eyebrow…

The Good Stuff

Smart Pet Feeders

Okay, how cool are smart pet feeders? I mean, life gets busy, and these are a godsend. They let you schedule meals and even send you alerts. If I had a cat, this would be a no-brainer. My Max would totally scam the system though.

Pet Trackers

Ever had that mini heart attack when you can't find your pet for a second? Yeah, me too. That's why pet trackers are such a relief. They're like a GPS for your fur baby, so you can always know where they are.

Interactive Toys

So, I bought Max, my poodle and certified ball nut, a smart ball - it was a hit! It shook, rolled, and kept him entertained for months. Sadly, Max might have partied a bit too hardy with it, and it stopped shaking. Still, it was good while it lasted!

Smart Litter Boxes

I'm allergic to cats, but if I weren't, a smart litter box would be on my shopping list. These things automatically scoop waste into a sealed compartment. No more stinky litter box—what's not to love?

Proceed with Caution

Telehealth for Pets

I get it, telehealth sounds convenient. But how can a vet really assess your pet without a physical check-up?

Pet Monitoring Cameras

These cameras promise to let you keep an eye on your pet all day, but I think they’re kind of creepy. They're a bit Big Brother-ish. They capture more than just your pet's cute antics, and that can be a privacy concern.

From smart feeders to smart balls that can't withstand the enthusiasm of a poodle named Max. If they ever invent a gadget that can teach dogs to make coffee, I'll be the first in line. Until then, Max and I will be over here, trying to figure out how he broke his unbreakable toy.
