ChatGPT: My Kitchen Hack for Feeding Hungry Teens

As a mom of two teenage boys, each with their distinct tastes, my kitchen often transforms into a whirlwind where I'm on a mission to create something they’ll both like to satisfy their hearty appetites (leftovers are a rare sight here, much to the dismay of our dog, Max!) We're a family that relishes a variety of flavors – from classic BBQ to Italian pastas to Chinese dishes.

The Daily Dinner Saga

It's that time of the day again – dinner time. My boys are circling the kitchen like sharks, their hunger almost tangible. I find myself attempting to concoct a meal that meets these ravenous appetites without resorting to popping out to buy some rarely-used, specialty ingredients because my youngest has requested Chinese food, but let’s face it, take out food has gotten more expensive!

My Unexpected Ally

A pic of the actual dish!

I've previously used ChatGPT for academic purposes, but now it was time to test its mettle in the kitchen. My goal was straightforward: create a delicious meal without acquiring more one-off ingredients.

ChatGPT Understood the Assignment

It suggested a range of recipes, and together we decided to modify a General Tso's Chicken recipe. Despite lacking typical ingredients like hoisin sauce and rice vinegar, ChatGPT guided me in improvising with what I had, ensuring the dish's authentic flavor remained intact.

The result?

The modified General Tso's Chicken turned out to be an absolute hit, a victory over the daily 'what's for dinner?' challenge, all with a little help from AI.

This experience served as a great reminder of how AI can seamlessly integrate into our daily routines, offering a helping hand with everyday tasks. While there's much to discuss about the implications of AI in our world, it's clear that it's here to stay. So, why not embrace it and make the most of the advantages it offers?
